The Quad City Health Initiative Wellness Champions will launch Moon Walk 2010 on Friday, April 16th. Moon Walk 2010 will pit the Quad Cities against teams from Peoria and Champaign-Urbana in a virtual community race equivalent to a trip to the moon, or 238,700 miles. This is the fifth Moon Walk for the Quad Cities, and we have won three of the past four years. We are the defending Moon Walk Champions!! The race will end on June 11th.
Asbury will again be a part of this race. Sign-up and registration forms will be available in March. If you would like to be a part of this race, please sign up in the office or tell Brenda, Parish Nurse. Once registered, Moon Walkers will keep daily logs of their mileage and report their weekly total to Brenda via phone at 355-5218, or e-mail at asburynurse@netexpress.net . (Other types of exercise can be converted into “miles walked” using the Moon Walk conversion chart.)
All Asbury members and friends are welcome to sign up! The Moon Walk is a fun way to start exercising or to reinforce the importance of daily exercise to our health maintenance and disease prevention. Let’s Walk to the Moon!!

LENTEN STEWARDSHIP
As a special Lenten Stewardship Project, Asbury’s Church & Society Commission would like to help the Bettendorf Churches United Food Pantry. The Food Pantry currently has a good supply of canned items and frozen meat, but continues to have a need for:

paper towels bar soap toothbrushes
toilet paper shampoo cake mix
tissues (Kleenex) toothpaste catsup
cereal

As part of our Lenten Discipline and outreach, please consider helping us stock the Food Pantry with the above items! You may bring them to the Food Pantry Baskets located in each narthex. There are also special offering envelopes available for monetary gifts to purchase the needed items. You may put your gifts in the offering plate at worship, bring it to the church office, or send by mail. Please give generously to help Churches United as they continue to provide emergency food to members of our community.

Please join us Sunday, March 21 at noon for an old fashioned potluck to celebrate the past seasons and share plans for the future! If you have heard of the Garden Ministry, eaten anything from the Garden Ministry, or worked in any of the plots you are invited!!
We hope that everyone will attend, especially families with children who might be able to help for one hour this spring with getting the plots planted. Please save the date and bring a dish to share on March 21st. It will be a good day to
celebrate and share together the excitement of a new season of working together to feed the hungry in our area!

AFGHAN MINISTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP
We have several beautiful afghans that have been completed recently, and now we are in need of squares to create more afghans. The completed squares should measure 7” and may be either knitted or crocheted. Brenda has just purchased several new skeins of yarn, so stop by the basket in the East Narthex and pick up a skein to knit or crochet squares for afghans. Thank you for your help in this wonderful ministry our church provides to our members and as an outreach to our community.

YOUTH SERVICE PROJECT 2011
The youth will be planning a service project for the summer of 2011. There will be a parent/youth meeting to discuss where, when and so forth, on Sunday, April 11 at 4:00-5:30.
