Hallelujah, our garden plots are completely planted. (Mt. Joy plot- 3/4 acre; Grace plot at 53rd and Eastern - .6 acre; and a 20' x 20' plot on Rock Island Arsenal). For those of you who may not know, our Garden Ministry got its start on Rock Island Arsenal in the spring of 2002. We had 13 of these 20' x 20' plots which equated to about 1/10 of an acre.

GARDEN MINISTRY SOD-BITS

The 9th year of our Garden Ministry has officially begun. I will prepare these "Sod-bits" throughout the gardening season as a means to apprise church members of what is going on in the gardens.

GARDEN MINISTRY
The team concept to support the Garden Ministry has increased the number of volunteers available for the planting season. Thanks to everyone who has been involved and to those of you who may yet become involved. The concept of four teams seems to be a good concept, however the definition of a team needs to be changed a little.

Your Help Is Needed

If the Garden Ministry is going to be able to fulfill its potential to feed the hungry, your help is needed. Please consider volunteering
for one of the following teams:

TEAM A will work 3 hours per year: one in the spring to plant, one in
the summer to weed, and one in the fall to harvest.

TEAM B will work two or three times a month for “core” gardening events.
Members of this team will work closely with Team A
to help them know what to do.

TEAM C will be asked to be available weekly for whatever needs to be done.
